On Monday, Jae will begin sixth-grade at Murchison middle school. Liam is starting another year of high-school at Magellan. Its been a summer filled with work, travel, community service, swim lessons, day camps, visits with friends and family, bassoon practice, and a family road trip to Santa Fe. This stay, we had a very good spot on Don Diego — easy walks to Maria’s, Paper Dosa, and El Chile Toreado. We enjoyed days at Meow Wolf, the Randal Davey Audubon Sanctuary, and Ten Thousand Waves. Liam was our DM for an adventurous afternoon of DND, and we visited with Alissa at Kakáwa Chocolate House.  

School starts next week. Buy a new backpack, meet the teachers, visit the classroom, and talk about “What you did during Summer Vacation”. A few minutes ago, Jae and I were talking about our summer, and I thought I’d write up the list. Our summer was packed – camps for the boys (Neuron Garage, DoubleCreek, EarthNative, Camp Allen), swim lessons at the Y, movies at the Drafthouse, challenging projects at work with ever-present pandemic complications, traveling to visit my parents in El Paso, camping in the Limpia Mountains, and a family trip to Santa Fe.
